Tailoring and Cutting
and Knitting
To impart training in tailoring and cutting and Knitting to the destitute girls and women for upliftment of economic and social status through the tailoring and cutting and knitting centers established in the West Bengal at Block Level. The trainees will be selected from the poor and destitute women of the society belonging low income group preferably below 40 years of age having primary knowledge of reading and writing. The trainees will get the stipend of Rs. 200/- per month. The duration of training is for one year. maximum number of trainees in each center is 50 (fifty). All the related expenditure to be incurred in the training center will be provided by the Government. After completion o the training trainees will get certificate. Each training centers has the staff pattern viz. (1) two Instructors (2) Peon (3) One Darwan-cum-Night guard. Block Development Officers of the blocks are Controlling Officer and Director off Social Welfare is the controlling Officer of the Centers running in Kolkata.
The main object of the scheme is to rehabilitate the poor and destitute girls and women of the society both economically and socially through the training in cutting and tailoring and knitting.
At present there are seventy two (72) cutting and tailoring centers , out of which 68 (sixty eight) centers is running with trainees. 4 (four) centers are running without trainees due to some unavoidable circumstances.
Maximum (68 X 50) = 3400 number of trainees are getting training in cutting and tailoring and knitting centers Total fund released in the year 2004-05 as Rs.2,96,78,288/-. Total fund received in the year 2004-05 as Rs.2,97,08,100/-.
