GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS OF OPERATION: Kolkata, Asansol, Durgapur , Kalna , Kathi, Midnapore, Dinhatta, Coochbihar, Jalpaiguri, Isalmpur, Pazipura,  Rajgarh, Unubaria, Domjoor, Ghardannga(Howrah), Shantipur, Siliguri, Vishnupur, Kalinagar and  Bajrangbal (Howrah) areas  of the state.

 

ACTIVITIES RELATED TO TRAFFICKING AND PREVENTION OF CSE DONE BY NGO: The organization intervenes in the matter of awareness generation on trafficking along with its STD/ HIV intervention and sensitization programmes. It has undertaken a cross border anti trafficking program for the prevention of trafficking. The organization has constituted a Self Regulatory board, which acts as a watchdog in the red light areas. In the board, 60% of the members are women in prostitution and the remaining 40% are professionals such as doctors, advocates and social workers.

Durbar Mahila Samanvay Committee rescues minor girls. The girls are housed in the temporary shelter home run by the NGO for one week and later they are sent to the Government Run Homes.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: The NGO also counsels women in prostitution on HIV/AIDS. They have initiated intervention programmes, which include counselling of women in prostitution, providing education to their children, networking and facilitating their economic self-reliance outside the purview of the sex industry. For the economic empowerment of women in prostitution it conducts micro credit programmes with daily, monthly, recurring and fixed deposit schemes.
