ACTIVITIES
RELATED TO TRAFFICKING AND PREVENTION OF CSE DONE BY NGO:
Though the organisation does not work directly on trafficking of women and children, some of its interventions do help to combat trafficking. The organisation undertakes advocacy on child rights and juvenile justice. The NGO has undertaken advocacy against child marriage and abolition of child labour as well.
In a bid to save children from being sexually exploited, SEED runs a Night Rescue Centre for the street children and destitute boys and girls in the metropolitan city of Kolkata. It also runs a child line network for distressed children and provides out reach services to them.
Through its child line network the distressed children are repatriated to their families and some of them are rehabilitated in their short stay home where they are given training in different trades like sewing, tailoring and knitting at the vocational training centre. For rehabilitation and economic empowerment of girls it has formed Self Help Groups (SHGs). All these activities towards empowerment and economic self-reliance deter the trafficking of vulnerable girls and women.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Apart from the above-mentioned activities the organisation has undertaken the following projects:
·
For rural girls it runs vocational training centre cum half way home.
·
It also runs an old age home with multiple services.
